Abrams: “We must unify behind Jon today and invest in his campaign like our lives depend on it.”
ATLANTA, GEORGIA — Georgia Democratic House Leader Stacey Abrams today endorsed Jon Ossoff, Democratic candidate for Congress in Georgia's Sixth District.
“Through his work in the private sector, Jon has exposed crime, corruption and violations of human rights around the world,” Abrams said. “As a senior Congressional staffer, he worked hard for Georgians. Now, more than ever, we need leaders with his skills and experience to stand up for families in our state.”
“We have an unprecedented opportunity to elect a leader who will champion our values in the Sixth District, and Jon is the right choice for this moment,” Abrams said. “We must unify behind Jon today and invest in his campaign like our lives depend on it.”
“I’m honored by Representative Abrams’ support,” said Ossoff. “Together we will stand up for the core values that unify Georgians, rejecting fear, division, and extremism.”
Abrams is the first woman to lead a party in the Georgia General Assembly and the first African-American representative to lead a party in Georgia’s House of Representatives. She represents House District 89, which includes parts of Atlanta and unincorporated DeKalb County.
Abram’s endorsement adds to Ossoff’s growing list of supporters, which includes U.S. Representative John Lewis and U.S. Representative Hank Johnson.
